GQG Partners continues wholesale expansion with senior appointment

GQG Partners has appointed Ashneel Naidu to the newly created role of director of business development, based in Sydney and reporting to Daniel Bullock, director of wholesale markets.

Mr Naidu joins GQG Partners from Vanguard Investments where he was responsible for retail distribution to financial advisers in New South Wales and ACT including institutionally aligned dealer groups, independent financial advisers and boutique planning groups.

Mr Bullock said the strong growth of the Australian business has created a need for additional senior personnel.

“Ash has considerable experience and expertise building relationships with the local wholesale market, and he’ll be a key point of contact with, and support for, our network of wholesale asset consultants, national licensees, private banks and independent wealth firms.

“Our business has grown significantly in the Australian market since first launching here in 2018, and we continue to see strong interest in our global equities and emerging markets capabilities which have performed strongly despite the turmoil of markets in 2020.

“In the past 12 months alone we have received top ratings for our funds from Morningstar, Lonsec and Zenith and have been added to the majority of platforms in the market.  In addition, we won the ‘International Equities – Emerging Markets and Regional’ category at the Zenith Fund Awards 2020, which is a testament to the strength of the investment process and the skills of the portfolio managers in identifying market risks and opportunities over recent months, ” Mr Bullock said.

Before his time at Vanguard, Mr Naidu worked in business development roles for Westpac Private Bank and Macquarie Bank.  He holds a Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology from the University of Sydney and a Masters of Business in Finance from the University of Technology, Sydney.  He also holds a Certified Investment Management Analyst certification from CIMA Society of Australia (formerly the Investment Management Consulting Association) and is a CFA Level II Candidate.
