Issues critical to SMSF specialists, such as complex strategy construction, contribution strategies, planning for incapacity and the payment of pensions, will be on the agenda at the annual SMSF Association Technical Summit being held on 27-28 July on the Gold Coast.

A highlight on the SMSF calendar is the 2022 Technical Summit that will offer six SMSF “deep dives”, three keynote addresses and eight technical sessions as well networking opportunities and social functions.

SMSF Association CEO John Maroney says: “The 2022 National Conference held last month in Adelaide was a very positive reminder of the value that our specialist members place on face-to-face interaction with their peers.

“These events are much more than just attending sessions and hearing specialist speakers involving some of the brightest minds in our super sector. They provide an environment to address and problem solve topical technical issue by collaborating with and learning from their multi-disciplinary peers.

“Topics to be explored include contribution strategies, the dividing line between legal, tax and personal advice, planning for incapacity and estate planning. The importance of engaging professionals early in the strategy formulation phase will also be a key discussion point.

Maroney concludes: “The Technical Summit has a deserved reputation for offering a highly technical, robust program specifically designed for SMSF specialists across the different disciplines.

“Some of these topics were introduced at National Conference and now the Technical Summit provides the forum to drill down into the detail, arming delegates with practical solutions they can use in their businesses immediately.”
