Cyber insurance is a new and rapidly evolving field, and one of the fastest growing lines for insurers and reinsurers. The cyber insurance industry is experiencing significant growth due to companies demanding cover in response to high-profile incidents. Although cyber insurance is seen as one of the biggest opportunities in insurance and reinsurance, the risks it poses to insurers and insureds via threats such as cyber risk aggregation could be equally large.
While insurers are developing pricing tools for the underwriting of cyber risks, the focus on aggregation has increased — on how to understand and control the potential exposure. Managing cyber risk accumulations is among the top concerns for the insurance industry today.
Are the concerns regarding aggregation of losses from a cyber attack overstated?
Join us at ANZIIF’s debate of the year where reinsurers and general insurers will debate whether cyber accumulation is a problem, and whether it can be controlled through careful underwriting and limitations on the amount written. What do you think? Are reinsurers justified in their concerns with accumulation of cyber attack, or is this issue being over stressed?
