One of the issues surrounding climate change is the potential for significant disruption to vulnerable populations.
In this session you will hear from Rade Musulin, Principal at Finity Consulting as he examines this issue from the perspective of Australia, as a developed country as well as from the perspective of developing countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.
This session will provide:
- A discussion of vulnerable populations in various countries.
- The challenges of providing insurance services to these populations.
- How climate risk will pose particular issues to vulnerable populations and what role(s) the insurance system can play in increasing their financial security.
The session will draw upon work done in Australia in response to government inquiries on insurance affordability and globally from the International Actuarial Association’s paper entitled Climate Change, Insurance, and Vulnerable Populations.
