The Self-Managed Super Fund Professionals’ Association of Australia (SPAA) has today announced the appointment of Robin Bowerman to the SPAA Board.

SPAA Chairman Sharyn Long said the appointment will complement the high level of technical expertise and industry experience on the SPAA board at a time of consolidation for the $432 billion SMSF sector following the Stronger Super and Future of Financial Advice (FoFA) reform process.

“SPAA represents advisers to the self managed super fund sector and stands for high standards of professional competence and integrity. The addition of Robin Bowerman will provide valuable input to SPAA policy advocacy campaigns as well as our marketing efforts to increase SPAA membership and accreditation,” Ms Long said

Robin Bowerman is Head of Corporate Affairs and Market Development at Vanguard and a member of Vanguard’s Executive team. He is responsible for Vanguard’s marketing & corporate communications and plays a key role in Vanguard’s market and product strategy. He joined Vanguard in 2003.

Before joining Vanguard, Robin was a financial services journalist, commentator and editor for more than 15 years. He continues to be editor of Vanguard’s core client publications. In 2002, Robin co-authored the book Wealth of Experience, with Jeremy Duffield, Vanguard Australia’s ex-Chairman and founder.

Robin has been a strong supporter of SPAA over many years and has contributed to the SPAA National Conferences as a member of the Conference Committee for the past three years.

“Robin is highly regarded in the financial services industry and the self managed sector and we expect his appointment will prove to be a valuable addition to the SPAA Board,” Ms Long said.
