Andrea Slattery – CEO – SPAA

The SMSF Professionals’ Association of Australia offers tech-heads the perfect opportunity to boost their self-managed super fund expertise with registrations for SPAA’s annual State Technical Conferences series opening on Monday 6 May.

The conferences, titled SMSF Boost Camp,  play an integral part in keeping SPAA members up to date on the myriad changes to industry standards and regulations.

Boost Camps will be held in Sydney on 23 July, Brisbane (24 July), Melbourne (30 July), Adelaide (31 July) and Perth (6 August).

The 10th Annual State Technical Conferences, which are part of the organisation’s 10-year anniversary celebrations, will feature eight of Australia’s top SMSF experts who will deliver a comprehensive technical program for the quickly growing SMSF sector.

SPAA CEO Andrea Slattery says: “Our members keenly await our technical conferences. They have become an important event on the SPAA calendar, playing a critical role in keeping our members up to date with the latest developments in the industry.

“This year, with all the changes that are unfolding that have an impact on financial planners, auditors, and accountants, they will give members the opportunity to discuss how they are handling the changes and, at the same time, hear from the experts on these issues.”

Graeme Colley, SPAA Director Education and Professional Standards, who is heading the technical conferences for the first time, says: “We have put together an exciting program. We will have an update on the new regulations and legislation, a close look at recent ATO decisions and the lessons that can be learnt from that, the new rules around how SMSFs acquire and sell assets, and much more.

“SPAA is committed to fostering and enhancing integrity and professionalism in the SMSF sector by encouraging and supporting professionals to achieve excellence in their education, knowledge and skills, and the technical conferences play a vital role in achieving.”
