The SMSF Professionals’ Association of Australia (SPAA) has organised an exciting program for its annual State Technical Conferences series that begins in Sydney on 22 July.
The day-long conferences, titled “Amplify”, are keenly awaited by SMSF professionals who relish the opportunity to learn about any changes to industry standards and regulations over the past year, as well as take advantage of the invaluable networking opportunities they provide.
Aside from Sydney, the conferences will be held in Brisbane on 23 July, Melbourne on 29 July, Adelaide on 30 July and Perth on 5 August.
They will feature seven SMSF experts who will deliver a comprehensive technical program about topical issues in the SMSF sector, including:
- The third annual SPAA-Macquarie report into the sector that will have a particular focus on how firms can best structure their businesses.
- Regulatory and legislative update;
- The ATO on compliance activity and the new penalty regime;
- Planning for a trustee’s mental incapacity.
SPAA CEO Andrea Slattery says: “Our members look forward to our technical conferences. They appreciate their informative nature and how they assist them to remain up to date with the latest developments in the industry that support them in building quality profitable businesses.
“As we all know our industry never stands still, whether is legislative or regulatory change across all the professions involved in our sector, and as such these conferences give all our members the opportunity to hear from experts about what’s happening and discuss with their peers how they are handling any changes.
Graeme Colley, SPAA Director Education and Professional Standards, who is heading the technical conferences for the second successive year, says: “Once again we have pulled together a program that will interesting and informative.
“These technical conferences play an integral role in underpinning SPAA’s commitment to encouraging professionalism in the SMSF sector by supporting our members to achieve excellence in their education, knowledge and skills.”
