Future2 Wheel Classic heads West: registrations now open

Future2’s annual cycling fundraising event is on in October.

Future2’s annual cycling fundraising event is on this November.

Future2’s flagship fundraiser heads to Western Australia (WA) this year with a circular route starting and ending in Perth from 17-23 November.

The 2016 Future2 Wheel Classic follows a 7-day, 930 km route through coastal and southern WA via Margaret River and Mandurah. Online registrations are now open and include options to join the ride for three, four or seven days.

The 2016 event is the seventh Future2 Wheel Classic, an endurance cycle ride that has raised over $585,000, bringing new opportunity and hope to socially and financially disadvantaged young Australians through Future2’s Make the Difference! Grants.

The Wheel Classic arrives back in Perth for the opening of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Professionals Congress (23-25 November) and the Future2 Gala Dinner (24 November) where the 2016 Future2 Make the Difference! Grants will be announced. Riders will be welcomed by hundreds of their peers gathered for the financial planning profession’s annual signature event.

The fundraising target is set at $100,000, with a $1,000 minimum for each rider. The cyclist who raises the highest amount will be awarded the Jack Griffin Memorial Trophy. A Purple Pedal trophy goes to the rider nominated as showing the most grit and determination during the ride.

Future2 Chair Matthew Rowe CFPâ congratulated participants for their fundraising and personal achievement in the 2015 Sydney to Brisbane ride.

“The 2016 Wheel Classic, our first in WA, promises a spectacular ride that tests the stamina of the participants, but spurring them on will be the camaraderie of the team and the knowledge that their efforts will help young Australians turn their adversity into opportunity.”

Other Wheel Classic routes have included Bourke to Sydney (2010 and 2011), Sydney to Melbourne (2012), Melbourne to Sydney (2013), Melbourne to Adelaide (2014) and Sydney to Brisbane (2015).
