Following the recent ratings upgrade by Zenith Investment Partners, we are pleased to announce that the Pan-Tribal Global Equity Fund has also been upgraded to ‘Recommended’ by Lonsec.
As a result of Lonsec’s in-depth Global Equity review process, it has upgraded the Pan-Tribal Global Equity Fund from ‘Investment Grade’ to ‘Recommended’.
According to Lonsec’s rating definitions, a ‘Recommended’ rating indicates that the research house has strong conviction that the financial product can generate risk-adjusted returns in line with relevant objectives. The financial product is considered an appropriate entry point to this asset class.
The Pan-Tribal Global Equity Fund provides a style neutral, currency unhedged and benchmark unaware exposure to the international equities market. In discussing the sub-investment manager, Davis Advisors, Lonsec’s research report noted: “Lonsec believes the Manager has a strong investment philosophy underlying its investment process, based around finding durable businesses with expanding earnings and investing in them at ‘value’ prices for the long term. That this has remained consistent since the firm started in 1969 through a number of market cycles is also viewed positively.”
One of the Davis principles that resonates with Pan-Tribal CEO Colin Woods is its commitment to co-investment. The Lonsec report commented on this approach: “The Davis family also has substantial money invested in its Funds. Lonsec views this positively and believes it has helped the Manager maintain a strong investment culture, which has exhibited a good balance between being a supportive environment while also being performance driven.”
On Danton Goei, portfolio manager of the Fund, Lonsec notes, “He is considered to be an experienced and high quality investment professional…Lonsec has increased its conviction in his investment capabilities since its last review.”
Lonsec also commented on Davis CEO Christopher Davis, who leads the investment team and is head of research. “Davis succeeded his father as head of the firm in the 1990s and Lonsec believes he is a strong custodian of the culture and investment philosophy of the Manager. Overall he is considered well qualified to lead the team.”
Colin Woods, CEO of Pan-Tribal Asset Management, says the rating is timely.
“Having a ‘Recommended’ rating from both Lonsec and Zenith will increase the appeal of the Fund to a broader cross section of the advice community.
“The Fund has been well received by dealer groups and advisers, and its funds under management are rapidly growing,” said Woods.
The Fund was recently added to MLC Wrap and Navigator, and is also available through a number of other key platforms: AMP North, Asgard, BT Wrap, Clearview, Colonial FirstWrap, Federation Alliance, HUB24, Investment Exchange, Macquarie Wrap and netwealth.
