Aberdeen Standard Investments has announced a new partnership with The Australian National University (ANU), in which they will manage an Australian Fixed Income strategy with an emphasis on ESG.

ANU Endowment Fund has selected Aberdeen Standard Investments to manage a strategy that invests in active Australian Fixed Income with an ESG overlay – facilitating the negative screening of securities issued by any company that derives in excess of twenty percent of its revenue directly from tobacco, coal, gambling, or adult entertainment.

In selecting Aberdeen Standard Investments as its sole external Australian fixed income manager, ANU cited its “highly regarded and solid domestic fixed income team” and “proven expertise in delivering financial returns within an environmental, social and governance framework.”

Commenting on the new relationship, Brett Jollie, Managing Director of Aberdeen Standard Investments’ Australian business, said “It is particularly pleasing to be appointed for such a high profile mandate. We are delighted to work together with ANU, employing the skill and breadth of experience from the Australian fixed income team.”

“Importantly, our globally-resourced ESG capability is being implemented for Australian investors and our integrated approach allows us to offer bespoke ESG solutions that meet individual needs. ESG integration is an important conversation and an area we feel has significant growth potential, as investors consider their wider fiduciary responsibilities in generating positive financial outcomes.”
