Prime Value strengthens equities team with new portfolio manager Mike Younger

Boutique investment house, Prime Value Asset Management, has strengthened its equities team with the senior appointment of Mike Younger as a Portfolio Manager.

Mike Younger has more than 20 years’ experience in Australian equities with a particular focus on small cap stocks.

Mr Younger was previously Portfolio Manager – Small Caps at REST Super. Prior to that he held roles as Executive Director and Head of Small Cap and Mid Cap Research at Goldman Sachs, and was a Director and Head of Emerging Growth Research at Citigroup Australia.

Mike’s appointment follows the addition of Benjamin Mellody as an Equities Analyst last year. Prime Value Asset Management CEO and founder, Yak Yong Quek, said: “Mike brings great research ability and portfolio management experience to our investment team. We are delighted to welcome Mike aboard.

“We continue to invest in our client offering; Prime Value Asset Management now has a dozen experienced Portfolio Managers with a strong track record, and excellent teamwork built around our high performing culture emphasising risk management.”

He said Prime Value Asset Management’s small and micro-cap funds recently surpassed $200 million in funds under management. “Demand for our small cap funds continues to grow, performance has been consistently strong, and Mike will help us to take it to the next level.”

Mr Younger will work closely with Richard Ivers, portfolio manager for small cap strategies including the outperforming Prime Value Emerging Opportunities Fund. “I’ve known Mike Younger for many years. He is a talented and experienced small cap stock picker, and will be a fantastic addition to our team.”

The Prime Value Emerging Opportunities Fund is currently open to retail investors.

Boutique manager Prime Value Asset Management was founded in 1998 and is part of an investment group including Shakespeare Property Group, managing over $2 billion in equities, income securities, direct property and alternative assets.
