Take advantage of free resources to identify risk factors.

Following a summer of bushfires across Australia, the insurance industry is being invited to take advantage of free resources designed to support communities to improve their understanding of insurance and risk management.

The Know Risk Network is a suite of risk and insurance resources and tools for individuals, families and businesses. Spanning personal and business lines, it includes written and video content, such as checklists and insurance 101s, insurance and risk information and tips distributed via a website, e-newsletters and social media, and a phone app that enables users to store insurance policies, keep records of property and receive renewal reminders.

To raise community awareness and understanding of risk and insurance, Know Risk is now inviting insurers and brokers to share its resources with their clients and customers by embedding Know Risk content and resources on their websites, social media and other channels.

“As an industry, our reason for being is to support clients and customers to manage risk, and part of this is ensuring that they have access to relevant and practical information on insurance and risk management,” said Prue Willsford, Know Risk spokesperson and CEO of ANZIIF, which runs Know Risk.

“To this end, Know Risk is reaching out to businesses across the industry to encourage them to use everything that Know Risk has to offer – articles, videos, checklists, phone apps and social media. Through a combined effort we are aiming to help communities to take control of the risks in their lives and to improve their resilience through knowledge.”

In addition to a number of businesses in the industry, Know Risk is being shared by the Australian Government’s MoneySmart program and is a recommended resource in the Smart Traveller initiative.

The Know Risk Network comprises:

  • Know Risk Insurance Tracker™, an iPhone and Android app where consumers can store their insurance policies, keep records of property, and receive reminders to renew policies.
  • The Know Risk website, which is updated weekly with personal and business lines content on insurance and risk
  • The MyRisk profiling tool to help consumers identify the risks they face
  • Know Risk social media information and tips
  • Know Risk e-newsletters
  • Know Risk financial literacy resources in schools

Know Risk was established in response to the Victorian bushfires and Queensland floods to provide an independent, practical and accessible resource on risk and insurance. To take a look at some of the Know Risk content and tools, use the links below.
