Rose Partners establishes East Coast footprint with MSI Taylor acquisition
Accounting and Advisory firm, Rose Partners, has continued it expansion by entering into partnership with Brisbane and Gold Coast-based accounting firm, MSI Taylor, giving the group a stronger foothold on the east coast of Australia as it ramps up plans to build a national mid-tier firm.
The deal sees Rose Partners expand to eight partners and 75 employees, and cement its reputation as the leading adviser to Corporate and Business clients in the pharmaceutical, construction, health, and professional services sectors.
According to Ben Simon, Partner at Rose Partners, both firms are highly complementary and share the same passion and commitment to delivering the highest standard of service and advice, and providing career development opportunities for employees.
They also share a number of mutual corporate and pharmacy clients, which gave Rose Partners a strong understanding of the MSI Taylor business, and confidence to partner, Simon said.
“MSI Taylor is an exceptional business with high calibre clients and a similar philosophy and culture to us, which makes them the ideal fit,” he said.
“Together we can increase our capability and capacity, drive efficiencies, and capture growth opportunities.”
Matthew Harris, Managing Partner of MSI Taylor, said the deal delivered a dedicated management and leadership team, a broader range of services to clients and greater professional development opportunities for employees.
“This deal frees me up to focus on the areas I’m good at and where I can add the most value, which is working with clients,” he said.
“Both businesses are aligned in terms of our values, and there is an overlap of specialist skills, but Rose Partners is also very strong in some areas where we are lacking and vice versa, so there is a lot of opportunity.”
Established in 1990, MSI Taylor provides accounting, tax, audit and advisory services to a broad mix of clients but specialises in supporting pharmacy clients with M&A, structuring, financial management and planning.
The group is part of the MSI Global Alliance, an international association for over 260 independent legal and accounting member firms including nine firms in Australia.
Harris said the group’s clients appreciated the personal service they received, despite MSI Taylor’s considerable size.
“We look after some extremely large and successful companies, many of which have been a client of ours since they were fledgling start-ups and small businesses,” he said.
“We are extremely proud of the client longevity and loyalty we have, and look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional service and value.”
According to Simon, Rose Partners has access to considerable M&A capability and resources through its strategic partnership with professional advisory firm, AZ NGA. It also had significant inhouse expertise, provided by the group’s Chief Operating Officer and Partner, Natasha Chambers.
“We have a unique culture and ethos, and we’re looking to share, what we call, our magic sauce with other firms that are focused on growing and providing the best possible service to clients,” Chambers said.
“Expanding along the east coast is a natural progression for our business and we’re looking to continue expansion in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and possibly Adelaide through both M&A and organic activity.”
In addition to a strong client value proposition, Chambers said Rose Partners had a compelling offer for accounting firms, and the capital and flexibility to structure transactions to meet their unique needs.
“There’s plenty of activity and there will be more consolidation over the next few years, due to factors like capacity constraints, and the war for talent,” she said. “Firms are increasingly turning to M&A not only to address resourcing challenges but also to achieve scale, streamline operations, and improve profitability in a rapidly evolving landscape.”
“It’s becoming increasingly difficult for smaller firms to attract, develop and retain talent, and we want to partner with these firms to help them achieve their goals and position themselves for long term success.”
