The Future2 Foundation appoints Co General Managers, enters new phase
The Future2 Foundation has appointed Ms Lucy Timms and Ms Madeleine Catlin as co general managers, working with the Board to lead the foundation into the next chapter of its work helping disadvantaged young Australians.
Established in 2007, the Future2 Foundation has provided grants of over $1,500,000 to community groups endorsed by financial planning professionals from across Australia. Future2 is the charitable foundation of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).
Through its annual Future2 Make the Difference! Grants program, Future2 supports young Australians experiencing social, financial or physical hardship.
Ms Timms is also general manager at medical not-for-profit (NFP) Coda. She has 14 years’ experience working for NFPs across a range of industries, including team leadership, project/event management (national & international), conflict/change management and complex financial management. She holds a bachelor in accounting and business management from Cardiff University.
Ms Catlin is also operations manager at Coda, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the charity, including staff management, office set up, process development, budgeting & reporting to co-founders. She has worked for a number of NFPs in Australia and New Zealand and her experience includes operations and project management, event management, marketing strategy and implementation, stakeholder engagement and financial management. She holds a master of project management and a bachelor of communications from the University of New South Wales.
The chair of Future2, Ms Julie Berry, said: “Lucy and Maddie bring a wealth of complementary skills and experience in the not-for-profit sector across events, project management, sponsorship, marketing, operations, and strategy. Lucy and Maddie enjoy the collaboration and innovation that role sharing brings, and are excited to join the Future2 Foundation in this newly created role.
”It’s timely to review the structure and resourcing of Future2, and working with Lucy and Maddie provides a dedicated resource to focus on ensuring that Future2 can continue in its work providing support to those in need in our local communities, in the next phase of our growth”.
The FPA recently announced a proposal to merge with the AFA, and the Future2 Foundation will be exploring the opportunity to broaden its reach to all financial professionals.
“Future 2 Foundation is the charity of choice for financial planning professionals. We see this as an opportunity for the leading charitable foundations in financial advice to explore ways to work more closely together,” said Ms Berry. “We also see benefit in expanding our presence to other advice professionals.”
Ms Berry continued: “2021 and 2022 have been extraordinary years. Our local communities and charity partners have experienced unprecedented challenges. During this time we have kept to our grant commitments and remain committed to engaging financial planning professionals around Australia to support initiatives that improve the lives of young Australians in need.”
